We tried some dessert recipes that would work at camp. We were actually all at home over Zoom, which is a great way to see lots of simultaneous cooking going on. We’ve got a page showing more of what we cooked.
We tried some team challenges and games, and then cooked marshmallows over Swedish torches, at a local camp site.
Scouts went out for a scavenger hunt around Hitchin, looking for items ranging from the commonplace to the rather more unusual.
We went to the Baldock centre for a “fit for obstacle course racing” evening, challenging ourselves over all kinds of obstacles.
We entered two teams for an evening’s hike based in Shillington. Scouts navigated round the route, while completing some challenges along the way. Thanks for all the reports of how much you enjoyed yourselves, and congratulations to all who took part.
Some of our Scouts had been out on an overnight Expedition Challenge hike and camp. This evening, they reported back to the Troop about their experiences exploring the Nickey Line, the former railway that ran from Harpenden to Hemel Hempstead.
We haven’t been updating much during Covid, but we have been meeting weekly on Zoom, and more recently outdoors when the rules allowed it. Come back soon and we’ll add more about our recent meetings!
One lucky family has had lasagne and apple cake on one night, and chicken stir fry followed by these jaffa cakes another, as their Scouts practised their cookery skills. Good job we’re social distancing, or we’d all be round to try some!
About 16 Scouts got together on Zoom for a scavenger hunt, a catch-up on what we’ve all been doing in recent days, and the chance to renew our Promise together for the District’s St George’s Day event (which will be in cyberspace like everything else, of course).
